Telangana has launched a state-wide door-to-door SIR electoral roll revision, deploying 36,000 Booth Level Officers. The exercise aims to rectify anomalies in 90 lakh records and publish final electoral rolls by October 1, ensuring the integrity of the voter database.

Highlights
- •Over 36,000 Booth Level Officers have been deployed across Telangana for house-to-house enumeration.
- •The SIR electoral roll revision process is scheduled to conclude with a final publication on October 1.

- •The Chief Minister has ordered strict vigilance to protect genuine voters during the exercise.
A comprehensive door-to-door SIR electoral roll revision has officially commenced across Telangana, aimed at ensuring the accuracy of voter lists. To facilitate this massive undertaking, the state administration has deployed approximately 36,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who are tasked with visiting households to verify voter information.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, C Sudharsan Reddy, this systematic verification exercise is scheduled to continue until July 24. Once this phase of the SIR electoral roll revision concludes, authorities plan to publish the draft electoral rolls on July 31. Following a period for filing objections and conducting necessary hearings, the final, updated electoral rolls are set to be released on October 1.
Managing the Electoral Revision Process
Addressing potential concerns regarding the integrity of the process, C Sudharsan Reddy emphasized that the Election Commission maintains no intention of arbitrarily removing voters from the database. He underscored the importance of transparency and strict adherence to the guidelines mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI). To ensure rigorous oversight, more than 3,500 supervisors have been appointed, with over 1,000 senior officials tasked with monitoring the overall progress of the mission.
Current official data as of June 20 indicates that Telangana holds a voter base exceeding 3.38 crore. Of this total, approximately 2.38 crore voters have been mapped, while authorities have identified nearly 90 lakh electors whose records contain various anomalies. To resolve these discrepancies, BLOs will distribute specific enumeration forms to households and provide guidance to voters on completing them accurately. Furthermore, roughly 49,000 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have completed specialized training to support the BLOs in executing the SIR electoral roll revision efficiently.
In a related development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has signaled a firm stance on the matter. During a virtual meeting with party leadership, he explicitly warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any political figure found violating instructions or interfering with the process. He directed all ministers, MLAs, MPs, and constituency in-charges to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the duration of the electoral revision to prevent the deletion of genuine voters.
