Concerns regarding the urea supply in Telangana have intensified, prompting strong warnings from state leadership. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar recently addressed the situation, urging the agricultural community to remain cautious of claims made by the opposition regarding fertilizer shortages. He explicitly accused the BJP of attempting to undermine the state's standing by spreading misleading information about current resource availability.
Accountability for Fertilizer Distribution
During his recent Prajalatho Mukhamukhi grievance redressal event held at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnam Prabhakar emphasized that the responsibility for ensuring an adequate supply of urea lies primarily with the central government. He asserted that the entire production output from the Ramagundam facility should be prioritized for allocation within Telangana to meet local agricultural demands.
The minister issued a stern warning, stating that the state government is prepared to launch protests outside the homes of Union Ministers and BJP MPs if the necessary stock levels are not provided. Prabhakar noted that both the Chief Minister and other cabinet members have repeatedly sought support from the Centre to ensure farmers receive their supplies on time.
Ensuring Agricultural Support
The state government has maintained that it is dedicated to providing farmers with high-quality seeds, free from any adulteration. Ponnam Prabhakar advised the farming community not to be swayed by the rhetoric coming from opposition parties, which he claims is designed to create unnecessary panic. He urged local BJP MPs to take active responsibility and ensure that Telangana receives its fair share of fertilizer allocations.
Furthermore, Prabhakar highlighted that the state administration is fully prepared to engage in direct discussions with any Union Minister to resolve the ongoing urea supply crisis. By emphasizing the central government's duty to facilitate distribution, the state aims to protect the interests of its farmers and ensure that agricultural operations continue without disruption. The administration remains committed to maintaining transparency regarding resource management and continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent further uncertainty in the local markets.
