Amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, India's Ambassador to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi stepped up efforts to assist and support injured Indian nationals following a deadly air strike at Kuwait International Airport. The attacks claimed the life of an Indian expatriate and left several others injured.
Tripati began her mission by visiting the Central Mortuary in Kuwait, where she personally visited the remains of the deceased Indian national. She also extended her condolences to their family and appreciated the prompt and sensitive support provided by the Kuwaiti authorities.
Assisting Injured Nationals
In an effort to offer timely medical and emotional assistance, Tripathi made a point to visit injured Indian nationals in hospitals across Kuwait. She assured them of all available support and ensured close monitoring with healthcare providers as well as their families.
"The Embassy is fully committed to ensuring that every affected individual receives the best possible care and support during this challenging time," Tripathi stated, emphasizing the embassy's determination to coordinate swiftly with relevant authorities.
Regional Conflict Dynamics
The attacks come at a critical juncture of heightened regional conflict. According to statements from Kuwaiti officials, Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport was targeted by hostile drones resulting in casualties among travellers and airport workers alike. This incident is just one link in an escalating chain that has claimed the lives of multiple Indians over recent weeks.
Since hostilities began on February 28, India reported at least 10 fatalities linked to missile strikes in various regions including power plants, merchant vessels, and major cities like Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. These attacks underscore the dangerous environment faced by Indian nationals amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
"We extend our sincere condolences and sympathies to the families affected, and wish a speedy recovery to all injured colleagues," stated Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi from Kuwait's Ministry of Defence.
In response to these developments, the Indian government has been actively working with both local and international partners to ensure safety measures are in place for its citizens.
