Monsoon Update: Storms Loom for North and East India
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a high alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms across several states this week, with strong winds expected in many areas.

The onset of this year's monsoon in India, though slightly delayed, is bringing much-needed rainfall to several states after a period of intense heat. According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rains and thunderstorms are expected over the next few days, particularly in North and East India.
In Delhi, Monday is set to see partly cloudy skies with a maximum temperature of 37-39 degrees Celsius. The IMD has forecasted localized thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds gusting up to 60-70 km/h, increasing the likelihood of rainfall in certain areas.
Monsoon Impact Elsewhere
In Uttar Pradesh (UP), heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across most districts due to a high alert issued by the Meteorological Department. The forecast indicates winds reaching 80-90 km/h.
In Bihar, a warning has been issued for several areas, including Patna, Gaya, East Champaran, and others. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in these districts, with thunderstorms intensifying the weather conditions.
Moving towards the North-East, Assam and Meghalaya are expecting light to moderate rain spells mixed with strong winds from June 3 to 6. Additionally, isolated heavy rains are expected in Arunachal Pradesh starting on June 2.
In the South, states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are forecasted for an increase in rainfall activity. Certain areas in these regions are at risk of severe weather, including hailstorms and flash floods.
