Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecast a mixed weather pattern over the next few days, with scorching heatwaves affecting parts of the state while isolated thunderstorms are expected. This prediction comes as temperatures soar to alarming levels across various regions.

Heatwave Severe across 85 Mandals by Friday

The heatwave intensity is set to peak on Thursday with severe conditions in 46 mandals, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and many others. By Friday, the heatwaves will spread to 85 mandals, marking a significant rise in temperatures.

Maximum Temperatures:

The region of Markapuram experiences high temperatures with Nandanamarella recording an impressive 44.5°C on Wednesday. Other regions recording temperatures between 43°C and 45°C include Eluru, Polavaram, and Nellore districts.

Between 40°C to 42°C, a wide range of mandals such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Kakinada can expect hot days. The APSDMA attributes this phenomenon to a trough that extends from Vidarbha and Telangana covering Rayalaseema.

Precipitation:

While the severe heat is expected to continue over various districts, isolated light to moderate rains are forecasted in Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Eluru on Thursday. The heavy rain would be accompanied by lightning strikes.

The authorities recommend precautionary measures such as staying indoors during peak heat hours, hydrating adequately, and seeking immediate medical assistance if symptoms of heatstroke are noticed.
