In a proactive move to bolster electrical infrastructure, the Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has initiated a comprehensive tree-pruning and line-clearance drive across the Cybercity circle. This strategic maintenance operation is designed to significantly enhance power-line safety and ensure greater supply reliability for residents and businesses in the region. The primary focus areas for this initiative include Kondapur, KPHB Colony, and Gachibowli sections, which have been identified as critical zones for maintenance.

To facilitate these extensive improvements, L. Pandya, the Chief Engineer of the RR Zone, conducted a formal inspection of the ongoing clearance efforts. During the visit, the utility provider distributed specialized, advanced tree pruners and new smartphones to the operations and maintenance staff stationed within the Cybercity circle. This equipment upgrade is part of a larger, systemic effort to modernize field operations and streamline internal workflows.

Advanced Equipment for Infrastructure Maintenance

The TGSPDCL is deploying a suite of modern tools to ensure the maintenance drive is both efficient and thorough. The distribution includes battery-operated chain-saw machines assigned to all 59 divisional engineers working within the city limits. Additionally, the utility has issued 168 battery-operated pole pruners and 530 hand-held trimmers. These tools are expected to minimize the physical risks associated with clearing overhanging branches near high-tension conductors and electrical poles.

Beyond physical clearing, the utility has prioritized digital transformation by distributing 217 smartphones. These devices are allocated to each fuse-off call office to facilitate better oversight and management of the distribution network. The integration of these digital tools is intended to improve real-time communication between field teams and central offices, allow for better monitoring of work progress, and enable more accurate reporting of operational status. Furthermore, this tech-enabled approach will aid in the swift processing of consumer complaints, fostering a more responsive utility service.

Discom officials emphasized that the rigorous pruning of vegetation near conductors is essential to prevent common operational hazards. By proactively removing problematic branches, the utility aims to reduce the frequency of conductor contact, prevent feeder trippings, and eliminate other common electrical faults that typically lead to unwanted power interruptions. The launch event saw the presence of several senior utility officials, including Chandrasekhar, Shyam Kumar, Manikyalu, Kamalakar Reddy, Shivaprasad, Adinarayana, and Sainath, all of whom underscored the commitment to enhancing the city's power infrastructure reliability.
