Addressing Metro Rail and Financial Challenges
The state government is evaluating its options regarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I, particularly following uncertainties about potential funding from the Indian Rail Finance Corporation. Authorities are tasked with securing approximately 13,600 crore required to complete the takeover from L&T. If central assistance for a joint venture project remains unavailable, the administration is exploring the possibility of executing the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project using state-owned financial resources.
In a move towards modern governance, this session will be conducted as an e-Cabinet meeting. This digital shift is part of a broader push to implement a paperless administrative system across all government departments in Telangana.
Rythu Bharosa and Agricultural Support
A significant portion of the Cabinet meeting will focus on the Rythu Bharosa scheme. The administration is finalizing plans to distribute support funds for the current kharif season. Reports indicate the government intends to deposit nearly 9,000 crore directly into farmers' bank accounts, potentially launching the initiative around June 26. In the previous kharif season, 8,744 crore was disbursed to 69.4 lakh farmers, while 5,653 crore was provided during the recent rabi season.
Officials are also focusing on ensuring that adequate stocks of seeds and fertilizers are available to agriculturists following the onset of the monsoon. Beyond these key fiscal issues, the Cabinet will deliberate on broader state developments, including ongoing irrigation projects and welfare programs. The session will also assess preparations for upcoming local body elections, including those for the GHMC, MPTC, and ZPTC, reflecting the current political and administrative climate in the state.
