The government of Andhra Pradesh is set to streamline land administration with an ambitious target to issue one crore land ownership passbooks by the end of this year. Under the Mee Bhoomi-Mee Hakku program, the state administration aims to formalize property records and safeguard the rights of farmers across the region. During regional celebrations in Nellore, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy announced that 23 lakh passbooks have already been distributed as part of this ongoing initiative to clarify land titles.
Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure and Land Rights
The state's efforts to provide secure land ownership passbooks are part of a broader commitment to improve agricultural operations. Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy confirmed that the previous administration's Land Titling Act has been repealed, replaced by a more farmer-friendly framework. Alongside the distribution of documentation, record corrections are currently being carried out in approximately 6,700 villages to ensure accuracy and transparency in land ownership.
The government is also prioritizing irrigation and rural development to support the agricultural sector. The Somasila-Kandaleru reservoir network has already provided water to nearly seven lakh acres, with an additional four lakh acres slated for coverage in the second phase. To further bolster rural infrastructure, 4,553 distinct projects, valued at approximately ₹393 crore, have been launched to assist the farming community.
Comprehensive Development and Welfare Measures
In addition to land administration reforms, the administration highlighted several achievements in employment and public welfare. Significant strides have been made in human resources, including the recruitment of 16,000 teachers through the Mega DSC process and the filling of 6,000 constable vacancies. Farmers are also seeing increased efficiency, with payments for paddy procurement now being processed within 24 hours.
The Endowments sector has also seen substantial investment, with ₹808 crore dedicated to the restoration and development of 684 temples across Andhra Pradesh. Local representatives, including Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and local MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and V. Prashanthi Reddy, emphasized that these initiatives reflect a strong focus on welfare and regional development. As part of the program, officials also distributed essential equipment, such as tractors and auto-rickshaws, to beneficiaries under the DRDA-supported livelihood programs, marking a significant step toward local economic empowerment.
