Disappearance of K2 Airways Cargo Flight
According to official reports from Pakistan’s Airport Authority, the aircraft last made contact when it signaled a navigational system malfunction. Following this alert, the flight was receiving guidance from the Karachi Area Control Centre. However, shortly after reporting the issue, radar data indicated that the missing K2 Airways Boeing 737 underwent an abrupt descent and a sudden change in heading. Communication and radar tracking were lost completely approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.
Aviation experts have noted the unusual nature of the incident. It is rare for a commercial aircraft to experience such a rapid, uncontrolled descent without attempting to glide. Authorities have not yet determined the root cause of the sudden disappearance of this Boeing 737, and investigators are currently analyzing all available data from the final moments of the flight.
Emergency Search Operations Underway
In response to the emergency, both civilian and military agencies have mobilized to the region. The Pakistan Navy has diverted the frigate PNS Zulfiqar to the last known coordinates of the aircraft to lead the maritime search effort. Furthermore, the Pakistan Air Force has deployed specialized aircraft to assist in scanning the area from the skies, while a naval ATR aircraft based in Turbat has also joined the mission.
Support for the search has extended to the Pakistan National Shipping Corp., which has dispatched a merchant vessel to assist in the rescue operation. As search teams continue to scour the waters of the Arabian Sea, officials remain focused on locating any signs of the missing cargo plane and its five crew members.
