Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board has successfully completed the registration of 8,681 Waqf institutions and 82,567.06 acres of Waqf land on the central government's UMEED portal.

The chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, announced that all identified properties from both the first and second surveys have been uploaded to the UMEED portal. Despite facing challenges such as technical hiccups, server issues, insufficient historical records, and difficulties with inter-state property details, the board managed the process through a well-coordinated action plan.

Digitalized Waqf Properties

Initially, 4,711 Waqf institutions were registered as per government guidelines. With this initiative, the state has achieved comprehensive digitization of waqf assets, creating a digital database that aims to protect property rights, prevent encroachments, enhance revenue generation, and ensure transparent administration.

Abdul Aziz thanked all involved officials, staff members, district inspector auditors, mutawallis, management committees, and other contributors for their successful efforts in completing the registrations. He stated that this exercise will not only safeguard waqf properties but also contribute to better fiscal management and transparency.

Technical Challenges Overcome

The AP Waqf Board faced significant challenges during the registration process, which included overcoming technical issues, ensuring accurate data collection for cross-border property details, and managing server interruptions. However, through continuous monitoring and strategic planning, the efforts led to a seamless completion of waqf property registrations.
