Andhra Pradesh Greening Society Formation to be Completed by July 3

The state government of Andhra Pradesh is making significant strides toward enhancing its environmental footprint through the establishment of the new Greening Society. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has officially instructed state officials to finalize the formation of this organization by July 3. This ambitious initiative is a cornerstone of the administration's plan to boost the state's total green cover to 50 percent.

During a high-level review meeting held on Thursday at the secretariat, Pawan Kalyan, who oversees the forest and environment portfolio, emphasized that all operational procedures, rule-making, and official appointments for the society must strictly align with the Presidential Order-2025. He urged department leaders to ensure that the project is executed with efficiency and without any unnecessary delays.

Strategic Implementation and Community Involvement

A key component of the strategy involves establishing nurseries in every gram panchayat across the state. In areas where independent nurseries are not viable, the administration plans to develop cluster nurseries that will support three to four panchayats simultaneously. Furthermore, these nursery expansion efforts are being integrated with the central government’s VB-G Ram Ji scheme. This approach is designed to optimize funding utilization while simultaneously creating meaningful employment opportunities in rural sectors.

The Greening Society is also leveraging modern technology to accelerate its reforestation goals. Officials confirmed that approximately 2.6 crore seed balls have been prepared for distribution across forest zones and fallow lands during the upcoming monsoon season. To manage seeding in difficult-to-reach, hilly terrains, the department intends to deploy 40 to 50 advanced drones for precision dispersal.

Pawan Kalyan underscored the importance of grassroots participation to ensure the longevity of this environmental initiative. He called upon local youth, students, community members, and various voluntary organizations to join the mission, aiming to convert the project into a widespread, mass environmental movement. The deputy chief minister also took a moment to commend the forest department for its ongoing dedication to protecting biodiversity. Specifically, he highlighted successful conservation efforts for endangered flora, such as the newly discovered Bambusa Andhricum bamboo species and the rare Cycas seshachalensis found within the Seshachalam forests. Through the formation of the Greening Society, the administration hopes to institutionalize these conservation successes and drive a lasting ecological change for the region.
