77 Trains Canceled in June Amid Railway Line Expansion: Major Impact on Passengers

There is a significant disruption for railway passengers planning travel this June. The Indian Railways has canceled 77 trains, affecting journeys and schedules across multiple states including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. This major decision arises from ongoing work on the fourth railway line at Champa station in the Bilaspur Railway Division. With these changes come several inconveniences for travelers, as outlined below.
Impact of Rail Cancellations: A Deep Dive
In addition to the cancellations, eight trains have had their routes altered and six more will not reach their final destinations. Five train services will also run late during this period. The decisions impact 18 express and passenger trains, causing significant disruptions for travelers.
To help mitigate inconvenience, only two special trains will run exclusively as passenger services between June 8th to 19th from Korba-Bilaspur-Korba: Train No. 18250/18249 and Train No. 18252/18251.
For the LTT-Bhubaneswar Express, journey disruptions are also in place as it will not run directly from June 7th to 18th, and instead, it will traverse Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, and Raipur. Similar alterations are underway for multiple express trains including Howrah-CSMT Express, Hatia-Pune Express, and more.
Routes of Cancelled Trains Will Be Changed
- Train No. 12879 LTT-Bhubaneswar Express will run via Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, and Raipur: June 13th and 17th.
- Train No. 12222 Howrah-Pune Duronto Express will pass through the same stations: June 11th and 13th.
- Train No. 12261 CSMT-Howrah Duronto Express will make stops at Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, and Raipur: June 11th and 13th.
- For those travelling from Shalimar to LTT by the Gyaneshwari Train, the route will be altered via these stations on June 12th and 15th.
