This decision, formalized during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, aims to support staff members across all power corporations operating under the state’s Energy Department.
The revised dearness allowance has been increased by 1.621 percent. This adjustment shifts the existing DA for employees and retirees from 17.651 percent to 19.272 percent. The policy change is effective retroactively from January 1, with back pay to be distributed in accordance with established state regulations. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to acknowledging the hard work of its workforce, particularly following a challenging period of high electricity demand.
Understanding the Financial Impact of the DA Hike
The implementation of this DA hike is expected to place a monthly financial burden of approximately ₹9.35 crore on the state’s exchequer. A total of 70,804 employees and retirees are set to benefit from this salary adjustment. During the recent administrative review, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka expressed appreciation for the employees' dedication, noting that the power sector successfully met a peak demand of 18,548 MW without any service interruptions, even during extreme heatwave conditions.
To determine the exact salary calculation resulting from this change, employees can apply a standard formula: (Basic Salary × New DA%) – (Basic Salary × Old DA%) = Increased Monthly Salary. For instance, an employee with a basic salary of ₹30,000 will see their monthly DA increase by approximately ₹486.30, totaling ₹5,835.60 annually. For those with a basic salary of ₹50,000, the adjustment results in an additional monthly gain of about ₹810.50, or ₹9,726 per year.
