In the Mayurbhanj district, residents of Tomkashila village, situated under the Dudhiani range of the Karanjia Forest Division, have been gripped by fear. This distress follows the discovery of two deceased bulls early on Wednesday. The presence of suspicious pug marks in the immediate vicinity of the carcasses has led many villagers to speculate that a large predator, possibly a tiger, may be roaming the area. A bear was spotted in close proximity to Daiguda village, located within the jurisdiction of the Mathili police station. The appearance of the wild animal drew a crowd of onlookers, prompting both forest officials and local police to intervene immediately to ensure public safety and prevent the bear from wandering into densely populated residential pockets.

During the emergency operation, the bear demonstrated aggressive behavior, notably attempting to climb onto a police patrol vehicle. This incident has raised concerns regarding the animal's temperament. Forest department officials suspect that the bear likely strayed from its natural habitat due to a scarcity of food and water, a trend that frequently intensifies during the harsh summer season.
