Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has launched a sharp verbal attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the ruling party of exploiting religious sentiments for political gains. During a public rally held in the Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra, the former Chief Minister explicitly demanded a “BJP-mukt Ram”, criticizing the alleged mismanagement and financial irregularities surrounding the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Allegations of Irregularities at Ram Mandir

The controversy stems from reports of alleged embezzlement concerning donations made to the Ram Mandir. According to recent information, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe has uncovered financial discrepancies within the temple’s donation management system. As a result of this investigation, eight individuals responsible for the collection and counting of cash and valuables have been arrested. Uddhav Thackeray urged the public to remain vigilant against the perceived looting of temples, questioning why organizations like the Sakal Hindu Samaj and Hindu Janjagruti have not taken a more vocal stance on the matter.

In his address, Thackeray argued that the BJP is actively engineering divisions within various political parties to distract the electorate from pressing public concerns. He maintained that true Hindutva is rooted in humanity and rejected the party's current approach, calling it a “Hindutva of looting temples.” He also announced that the Shiv Sena (UBT) intends to organize formal protests to address these grievances regarding “BJP-mukt Ram.”

Political Defections and Internal Strife

The rally was part of a larger tour by Thackeray across various constituencies previously held by MPs who have since defected to the Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. During the event, Thackeray addressed the defection of Sanjay Deshmukh, an MP who had previously served under his leadership. He expressed deep disappointment, revealing that Deshmukh had allegedly used a personal family matter as an excuse to avoid a party meeting, only to switch political loyalties shortly after.

Highlighting the sense of betrayal, Thackeray played footage of Deshmukh taking a solemn oath in his mother’s name to remain loyal to the original Shiv Sena. The party leader apologized to his supporters for having placed trust in such individuals, underscoring the personal nature of these political shifts. In response to these developments and the ongoing tour, Eknath Shinde dismissed Thackeray’s outreach as ineffective, asserting that the political damage had already been finalized and that such efforts come too late to change the current landscape.
