The state government of Telangana has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive door-to-door survey to ensure the successful implementation of the Indiramma Kutumba Jeevitha Bima scheme, which offers a life insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh to an estimated 1.15 crore families at no cost to beneficiaries.

Implementation Details and Strategy

The decision was made during a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, which took place on Tuesday. Attendees included Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

The sub-committee reviewed the modalities for the scheme, aimed at providing social security to every family. To ensure thorough coverage of all eligible beneficiaries, the committee directed officials to conduct a household-level survey. Special camps will be organized to assist those who might have been left out and large-scale awareness programmes on the insurance scheme will also be launched.

Additionally, the meeting directed officials to organize closing celebrations for the government's 99-day public outreach programme, Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika, from June 2 to June 12. The celebrations will include a range of initiatives such as Environment Week, road safety drives, anti-drug campaigns, women and child protection measures, housing and tourism promotion activities, urban development programmes, and the laying of foundation stones for renewable energy projects.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao asked departments to prepare detailed action plans by the deadline set at the meeting. The event was also attended by DGP C.V. Anand, Special Chief Secretaries Jayesh Ranjan, Vikas Raj, Navin Mittal, and Vani Prasad, along with other key officials.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance social security coverage in Telangana, benefiting families who might not have been previously aware of or able to access this valuable insurance programme. The survey and awareness campaigns are aimed at making the scheme more inclusive and accessible.
