CNG Price Hike Hits Jaipur, Petrol and LPG Follow Suit
With the recent hike in CNG prices by Torrent Gas, coupled with increases in petrol and diesel, India faces a growing energy crisis. The conflict in the Middle East has severely disrupted global fuel supplies, leading to significant surges in commercial LPG and home gas cylinder costs.

Highlights
- •CNG price hike in Jaipur: Rs 2.50 more per kg
- •Global events spark domestic fuel crisis
- •LPG cylinders cost rise by Rs 218
- •State-owned oil companies reducing excise duties
The price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Jaipur has seen a significant rise by Rs 2.50 per kg, reaching Rs 93.41 per kg from April 3, 2026. The surge is part of a broader fuel crisis affecting multiple regions and states across the nation. Torrent Gas stations have reported new CNG rates ranging from Rs 85.17 to Rs 99 per kg in different states.
Global Impacts Loom Large
The conflict between Iran, Israel-America has disrupted global crude oil and gas supplies. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has triggered a widespread energy crisis impacting various sectors, including domestic fuel prices in India. Reports indicate that the cost of commercial LPG cylinders has increased by Rs 218 as of April 1, 2026.
The surge is also seen in motor fuels like petrol and diesel. Nayara Energy and Shell India have increased their rates across the nation, with the most significant increases observed in Bengaluru for petrol (Rs 7.41 per liter) and diesel (Rs 25.01 per liter). This hike follows a previous increase by Rs 5 per liter for petrol and Rs 3 per liter for diesel by Nayara Energy towards the end of March.
Impact on Daily Commuters and Commercial Users
The rising prices are creating substantial financial strain for daily commuters and auto drivers. Increased operational costs mean that many drivers have had to extend their working hours or seek additional employment just to maintain their minimum wage earnings. Additionally, there is a growing concern over potential fare hikes for public transportation and commercial services, which could further burden the common people.
Rajasthan: Jaipur sees CNG price increase from Rs 89.91 per kg to Rs 93.41 per kg.
Punjab: Price range is between Rs 71.75 and Rs 94.25 per kg.
Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Puducherry: The new CNG prices are set at Rs 99, Rs 85.17, Rs 94.50, and Rs 81.50 to Rs 94 per kg respectively.
In response to the rising fuel costs, India's state-owned oil marketing companies have reduced the special additional excise duty on petrol and diesel. Petrol rates now stand at Rs 3 per liter (down from Rs 13), while diesel is now zero (previously Rs 10).
