The Telangana EAGLE Force has successfully executed a high-stakes inter-state operation, leading to the significant seizure of 500 kg of ganja. This major law enforcement achievement highlights the ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal drug trafficking supply chains originating from Koraput and entering the state of Telangana.
Following a lead based on credible intelligence, a dedicated patrolling team from the EAGLE Force, commanded by Sub-Inspector K. Ravi Prasad, initiated a pursuit on Wednesday night. The team tracked a suspicious SUV traveling from Balimela toward Jeypore for an extensive distance of approximately 80 kilometers.
Successful Seizure Operation in Challenging Terrain
The operation encountered challenging conditions, as the pursuit took place through dense jungle areas under the cover of night. Despite the difficult terrain and limited visibility, the EAGLE Force members maintained pressure on the suspects, eventually forcing the vehicle to a stop. While the driver managed to evade capture by fleeing into the deep forest, the authorities successfully secured the vehicle and its illicit contents.
Upon a thorough inspection of the vehicle, the officers recovered 115 individual packets of the contraband. This haul included 90 packets weighing 5 kilograms each, alongside 25 packets weighing 2 kilograms each, totaling the 500-kilogram haul. Preliminary investigations based on vehicle registration records have identified the registered owner as Amir Alli Khan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Nuasahi, in the Nabarangapur district of Odisha.
Impact on Illegal Drug Trafficking
The recovered contraband was formally transferred to the custody of the Koraput police in the early hours following the operation. This successful seizure of 500 kg of ganja represents a tactical blow to the networks operating between Odisha and Telangana. By neutralizing this large shipment, the authorities have prevented a significant quantity of narcotics from reaching illicit markets.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in monitoring inter-state borders. The Telangana EAGLE Force continues to remain vigilant, employing strategic patrol techniques to combat the trafficking of illegal substances. Investigations remain active as authorities work to track down the driver and further dismantle the supply chain associated with the registered owner of the vehicle.
