Hyderabad: In an unprecedented move aimed at improving rural governance and ensuring financial stability, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to push the payment of salaries to nearly 50,000 gram panchayat staff — a directive that aligns closely with those received by government employees. This initiative aims to significantly enhance transparency and accountability in rural administration.
Rapid Salary Disbursal and Pension Reforms
To smooth this transition, the chief minister also instructed officials to implement a direct bank transfer system for cheyutha social security pensions. This marks a shift away from post-office-based disbursements, enhancing both efficiency and traceability.
Broadcasting his commitment to financial autonomy of Gram Panchayats, Revanth Reddy allocated Rs. 50 crore monthly specifically for their employees' salaries. His directive emphasizes that every employee, regardless of their contract basis or departmental affiliation, should receive their wages on the very first day of the month.
Streamlining Pensions Distribution
The chief minister's strategy includes a comprehensive revamp of pension payment procedures. Utilizing voter IDs, Aadhaar cards, and SEEPJ data, he aims for an accessible and inclusive system that prioritizes women beneficiaries, particularly newly sanctioned pensions.
