Hyderabad: The President of the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), N. Ramchander Rao, lashed out against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday, alleging that the state's interests had been compromised by allowing Karnataka to build the Korata Kunta hydel project without additional Krishna water shares.

Water and Development Concerns

Rao accused the Telangana government of prioritizing political considerations over the welfare of its citizens, citing a backlog in payments amounting to ₹30,000 crore to contractors. He also highlighted delays in retirement benefits that led to deaths among some pensioners.

"The state has failed to deliver on key demands such as water, funds, and jobs promised during the Telangana movement,"Rao added. He further criticized both the BRS and Congress governments for their lack of progress in these areas. In particular, he pointed out that the state had not implemented a transparent job calendar.

On infrastructure projects, Rao questioned the Congress government's handling of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He accused both administrations of allowing delays and mismanagement that could be labeled as fraud.

"The political setup has consistently failed to adhere to the promises made during the Telangana movement,"Rao said, adding that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had provided substantial financial assistance over the past decade.

Upcoming Elections and Student Politics

In relation to upcoming municipal elections in Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri, Rao stated that his party would contest independently. He added that any future alliance decisions would be guided by national leadership. Additionally, Rao supported a public meeting proposed for an address by Pawan Kalyan.

Concerning student politics, Rao dismissed certain groups as having limited grassroots presence and maintained that the younger generation was less susceptible to external narratives.
