The state's Roads and Buildings Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, recently attended an event in Kanagal, Nalgonda district, alongside Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The event marked the launch of 441 projects under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Transforming Road Infrastructure in Telangana
Under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), the state government is moving forward with plans to develop a vast network covering 6,092.37 kilometers, with an estimated investment of Rs 13,006.27 crore. Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated the first phase of the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation drinking water scheme, valued at Rs 83 crore. These developments represent a stark shift from the previous decade, during which the government claims road infrastructure was significantly overlooked.
Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasized that despite existing financial challenges, the current administration has already invested Rs 6,500 crore from state coffers into various road works. The core objective of these extensive efforts is to ensure that every mandal headquarters is seamlessly connected to its respective district headquarters through double-lane roads. Such improvements are expected to facilitate industrial growth, provide employment opportunities, and ensure safer travel conditions for residents.
Looking toward future expansion, the government is actively preparing detailed project reports for several major initiatives. This includes the development of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada six-lane National Highway, a proposed bullet train corridor, and a new Greenfield Highway linking Kanagal and Gurrampodu to Bandar. Furthermore, the administration is prioritizing long-neglected irrigation projects, such as the Sriramsagar project and the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC), with an ambitious target to finalize the world's longest irrigation tunnel by August 2028. To guarantee the quality and durability of the new road projects, the state has mandated that contractors remain responsible for maintenance for a period of 15 years.
