In a forceful address during a public rally in Nalgonda, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy staunchly defended the Musi River Rejuvenation Project. The Chief Minister issued a stern warning against those attempting to create obstacles for the initiative, declaring that efforts to hinder this vital public health project would not be tolerated.

Defending the Musi River Rejuvenation Project

The Musi River Rejuvenation Project remains a central point of contention in Telangana politics. Addressing the severe contamination issues, Revanth Reddy emphasized that the polluted waters of the basin have led to significant health crises, including congenital deformities among children in the region. He challenged the opposition, questioning if prioritizing public health and environmental restoration should be met with such political resistance.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come amidst ongoing heated debates with the BRS and BJP. Revanth Reddy officially challenged both parties to participate in a special legislative session—covering both the State Assembly and Legislative Council—to critically examine their respective governance records. He proposed a comprehensive debate spanning the ten-year tenure of the BRS, the twelve-year period of the BJP at the central level, and his own government’s performance over the last thirty months.

Beyond the project discussions, the Chief Minister heavily criticized the previous administration for alleged irregularities. He leveled accusations regarding phone tapping incidents, manipulated question paper leaks, and the general mistreatment of citizens. Highlighting the stark disparity between political leadership and the public, Revanth Reddy pointed to the development of opulent farmhouses by K. Chandrashekhar Rao and other leaders while many families in the state still struggle for basic housing.

Focusing on Welfare and Development

The government's current welfare agenda was a major highlight of his speech. Revanth Reddy noted that his administration has already sanctioned 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses to restore dignity to vulnerable families. Furthermore, the government has transitioned from coarse rice to fine rice supplies, allocating ₹16,000 crore annually to provide six kilograms of grain to over 3.2 crore beneficiaries.

Defending his administration's economic and infrastructure achievements, the Chief Minister highlighted that the state has successfully waived ₹20,000 crore in agricultural loans and provided ₹27,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Despite criticisms, he maintained that Telangana has become a leading paddy-producing state. He also marked the beginning of a major infrastructure push, laying the foundation stone for 6,300 km of road projects across the state, valued at approximately ₹13,000 crore.
