Telugu Desam state president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao has officially submitted a comprehensive memorandum detailing 14 critical public grievances to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee. These pressing concerns, presented on Tuesday, focus heavily on land disputes, rehabilitation processes, compensation frameworks, and essential livelihood issues currently impacting residents within the Visakhapatnam district.
The legislative panel, led by Deputy Speaker and Petitions Committee chairman K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, conducted a formal review of these representations at the Visakhapatnam collectorate. During the proceedings, Palla Srinivasa Rao emphasized the urgent need for a time-bound resolution to these long-standing matters, noting that they directly influence the property rights, welfare, and economic stability of numerous local citizens.
Addressing Land and Rehabilitation Challenges
A major portion of the Palla Srinivasa Rao memorandum highlighted the hardships endured by residents living in Kunchamamba Colony, Rasalamma Colony, Gudivada Appanna Colony, and Siddhartha Nagar. These families have faced significant difficulties because their residential lands were mistakenly classified as water-body properties. The committee has since directed government officials to prioritize this matter and initiate a resolution within 90 days.
Furthermore, the discussion included concerns regarding delayed rehabilitation benefits for families previously displaced by the Pharma City project. The legislator pointed out that many of these families are still waiting for their allotted house sites. In response, the committee instructed the concerned authorities to finalize all allotment and registration processes within a strict two-month timeframe.
The session also addressed several other persistent issues, including the inclusion of residential areas within the 22-A prohibited lands list and reported irregularities regarding R-Cards issued to evacuees of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Additionally, the panel reviewed the status of compensation for lands acquired for various public infrastructure projects, as well as the long-standing grievances of Akkireddypalem farmers whose land was acquired over three decades ago.
Beyond land issues, the MLA called for immediate action regarding the underutilization of the Apparel Park located at Yadava Jaggarajupeta. He also advocated for the formal granting of ownership rights to the residents of Sri Varalakshmi Housing Colony and pushed for the fulfillment of promises made to the fishing communities displaced by the Gangavaram port development.
To ensure accountability, the committee has directed all relevant departments to develop comprehensive action plans and submit formal compliance reports according to the established deadlines. This review serves as a significant push toward resolving long-standing public grievances in Visakhapatnam and ensuring that departmental follow-up actions remain transparent and effective.
