Kinjarapu Atchannaidu Claims YSRC Administration Pushed Andhra Pradesh Into Debt Trap

Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has publicly criticized the previous YSRC administration, alleging that its policies pushed the state into a significant debt trap over the past five years. During a recent event held at the Santhabommali Mandal Revenue Office in Visakhapatnam on June 26, 2026, the minister highlighted several areas where he claims the state’s development had stalled due to mismanagement.

One of the primary concerns raised by Kinjarapu Atchannaidu involved the distribution of QR code-enabled pattadar passbooks to local farmers. He claimed that the previous government prioritized political optics over actual governance, specifically pointing out that officials had printed images of their political leaders on the farmers' official documents. He further asserted that the land resurvey initiatives undertaken during the YSRC tenure were executed in a disorganized manner, which subsequently resulted in thousands of legal and administrative disputes for landholders across the region.

Addressing State Debt and Governance Reform

The minister emphasized that the current NDA government, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is actively working to correct these past grievances. He stated that the administration is prioritizing the decentralization of authority by empowering tahsildars and revenue divisional officers to streamline service delivery for the public. A key part of this strategy includes the implementation of blockchain-secured land records, which are designed to be integrated with Google Maps to improve transparency and safeguard the property rights of farmers.

Beyond land records, the minister discussed the broader financial and developmental goals of the state. He alleged that the previous leadership had mortgaged critical state assets and failed to maintain social harmony, claiming that this misuse of power harmed the overall economic health of the region. Conversely, he described the current administration’s focus as being firmly fixed on transparent governance and comprehensive welfare programs.

Looking toward future progress, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu cited several ongoing initiatives as signs of a positive shift under the new leadership. He noted the installation of new gates at the Tungabhadra Dam, progress in significant river-linking projects, and a noticeable increase in investor confidence as clear indicators that the state is on a recovery path.
