The Honour of Ashoka Award 2026 is set to celebrate excellence and public service during its third annual edition. Scheduled for July 19, 2026, the prestigious event will take place at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Organized by the Charles Walters Council for Innovation & Research (CWSIR), the ceremony aims to recognize distinguished figures who have made significant contributions to nation-building, governance, and social development.
Expanding Recognition and Scope
Abhishek Pandey, Director of the CWSIR and Convenor of the Honour of Ashoka Award, highlighted the evolution of the event. While previous iterations focused primarily on government officers, administrators, defense personnel, and public servants, this year introduces a new, highly selective Social Influencer Category. This addition seeks to honor digital content creators who utilize their platforms to promote education, social responsibility, and positive public discourse.
Furthermore, the organizers have established a special category dedicated to Film, Fashion & Entertainment. This expansion intends to acknowledge prominent personalities from the creative arts whose professional impact has inspired audiences and upheld values of excellence and perseverance. Approximately fifteen individuals from the film, media, and digital influence sectors are currently slated to receive the Honour of Ashoka Award 2026 in recognition of their positive societal influence.
A Merit-Based Selection Process
The selection process for the Honour of Ashoka Award is strictly merit-based. Abhishek Pandey emphasized that the organization does not solicit or accept any monetary consideration, sponsorships, or lobbying efforts. Candidates undergo a rigorous evaluation that reviews their professional achievements, public impact, credibility, and reputation within their respective fields. The initiative remains committed to upholding the ideals of integrity, intellectual leadership, and public service.
The upcoming conclave will be presided over by His Lordship Mr. Justice Rajesh Tandon (Retd.), former Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. Several other notable dignitaries are expected to attend, including Priyanka Chaturvedi, Member of Parliament; Vishwapati Trivedi, IAS (Retd.); Dr. R. C. Mishra, IPS (Retd.); and Ashima Mittal, IAS. These leaders join a storied history of recipients and guests, including former Chiefs of Army Staff, Governors, and Supreme Court judges who have participated in previous editions of this national platform.
Aspiring candidates and interested nominees are encouraged to submit their profiles, along with supporting documents and recommendations, according to the official timeline to be considered for this prestigious recognition.
