During his visit to a micro-fulfilment center in Mumbai, the leadership outlined an ambitious roadmap for quick commerce, targeting an expansion into more than 300 cities nationwide.

This initiative is designed to establish what the company describes as India's most expansive delivery-in-minutes network. The core of this strategy revolves around Amazon Now, an ultra-fast delivery service that has emerged as the fastest-growing business unit for the tech giant within the Indian market. Since its inception, the platform has seen a consistent doubling of order volumes every quarter, highlighting a significant shift in consumer demand toward speed and convenience.

Scaling the Quick Commerce Infrastructure

The expansion plan follows a significant financial commitment, with Amazon pledging a total investment of USD 35 billion by 2030, building upon an existing USD 40 billion capital injection. This substantial funding is directed toward enhancing quick commerce logistics, scaling AI-driven digitization efforts, boosting exports, and generating employment opportunities across the nation.

Currently, the Amazon Now service caters to over 50 million customers across 15 major metro and non-metro urban centers, including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Hyderabad, Amritsar, and Kochi. The company intends to scale its infrastructure of urban micro-fulfilment centers, allowing for a broader product assortment that ranges from daily groceries and fresh produce to personal care items, electronics, and home essentials.

Market analysts observe that the domestic quick commerce segment is currently among the most competitive areas of the digital economy. Major players, including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Flipkart, are aggressively vying for market share. These firms are focusing heavily on supply chain fortification and diversifying their product range to satisfy modern consumer preferences for immediate delivery.

Commitment to Associate Welfare

Beyond logistics and expansion, the leadership emphasized the human element of their operations. The company introduced a program called 'Sammaan', specifically designed to support the welfare of its vast network of delivery associates. A significant portion of a recently announced USD 300 million investment in operational health and associate well-being will be allocated to scale this initiative. Samir Kumar, Country Manager for Amazon India, noted that the company’s success in the quick commerce space is intrinsically linked to the dedication of its delivery partners, who remain at the heart of their service promise to millions of Prime members.
