The Telangana government has begun acquiring 2,919 acres of land for the Lakshmidevipally reservoir project.
The reservoir is a vital component of the Palamur-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme with a 2.8 tmc ft capacity.
Total project expenditure is estimated at Rs 10,000 crore, with Rs 600 crore earmarked for land acquisition.
The project will provide irrigation for nearly four lakh acres and improve drinking water availability across multiple districts.
