Tamil Nadu government to gift 1-gram gold rings to newborns in government hospitals.
The 'Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam' has an annual budget allocation of Rs 755.83 crore.
The scheme will be officially launched on September 15 but applies retrospectively from June 22.
Eligibility is open to all residents delivering in state-run health facilities, regardless of gender or birth order.
