Minister D. Anasuya Seethakka and Deputy Chief Minister M. Vikramarka inaugurated a 1 MW solar power plant at Venkatapuram, Errupalem mandal, Khammam district. This project, initiated by the Chaitanya Self Help Group (SHG), marks a pioneering move in fostering economic empowerment through renewable energy among women.

About the SHG Solar Plant

The solar plant, costing ₹2.84 crore, will generate approximately ₹4.5 lakh per month for its operators, reflecting substantial economic benefits even as it reduces carbon emissions significantly. Seethakka emphasized how the development of women is integral to societal progress and noted that SHGs would receive increased interest-free loans from ₹10 lakh.

Mentioning the Government's commitment towards sustainable development, Vikramarka announced plans for extending bank linkage loans totaling ₹1 lakh crore over his government's tenure. He highlighted earlier initiatives where ₹66,000 crore of interest-free loans had already been disbursed.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

The minister also discussed the growing energy demand in Telangana, currently at 18,480 MW compared to 15,000 MW previously. Despite this increment, the state continues to uphold a steady power supply for domestic and industrial needs without frequent power cuts.

Vikramarka encouraged farmers to forego burning paddy stubble as it poses significant risks like fires, pollution, and soil degradation. Such practices could result in legal action against violators, signifying the state's firm stance on maintaining environmental standards.
