Despite the official conclusion of the summer vacation period, Tirumala is currently experiencing an unexpectedly high pilgrim influx. This surge in visitors has placed significant pressure on the hill town's infrastructure, affecting accommodation availability, transport services, and other essential amenities for devotees traveling to the sacred site.

Impact of Heavy Pilgrim Influx on Devotees

On Sunday, the sheer volume of visitors was evident as all compartments within both Vaikuntam Queue Complexes I and II reached maximum capacity. The queue stretched well past the Batagangamma temple, situated on the Outer Ring Road. Reports indicated that by 7 pm, the estimated waiting duration for Sarva Darshan had climbed to between 18 and 20 hours, illustrating the severity of the congestion.

To manage this overwhelming demand and prioritize access for a larger number of ordinary devotees, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) made the decision to temporarily suspend VIP Break Darshan and SRIVANI Trust Darshan on Monday. This administrative adjustment was intended to streamline the flow of traffic and provide relief to the common pilgrims waiting for long periods.

Many families, particularly those accompanied by the elderly or young children, faced challenging conditions while navigating the long queues. Due to limited accommodation, a significant number of devotees were compelled to spend the night in makeshift arrangements, including Pilgrim Amenities Complexes, public parks, and various open spaces located across the town.

The increased human density also severely strained the local transport and civic systems. Traffic movement along the ghat roads and throughout Tirumala was reported to be exceptionally slow during peak periods. Consequently, many visitors were required to walk considerable distances from bus stands and parking facilities to reach the entry points for the queues, often while managing luggage and assisting family members.

Although the TTD authorities worked continuously to distribute drinking water, provide meals through the Annaprasadam scheme, and maintain temporary sanitation facilities, the massive turnout kept these resources under constant strain. Officials noted that 85,582 pilgrims successfully had darshan on Saturday. Additionally, 44,155 individuals performed hair offerings, and the hundi collection reached Rs 3.76 crore. Sales of laddus hit 4.66 lakh, while approximately 3.43 lakh devotees were provided with free food. The administration continues to operate around the clock to regulate the situation and ensure that essential services remain functional for all those arriving at the temple.
