TIRUPATI, India - As summer holidays draw to a close, the sacred pilgrimage site of Tirumala continues to attract thousands of devoted pilgrims eager for darshan before the festive season. According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), despite the approaching end of their summer holidays, devotees are flocking in record numbers to catch a glimpse of Lord Venkateswara, leading to long queues and traffic disruptions.

Due to the influx of pilgrims, all compartments within the Vaikuntam Queue Complexes remain occupied. The Sarva Darshan queue lines have extended up to Silathoranam, causing significant delays for those hoping to catch a view of the deity. To cope with this massive demand, TTD continues to provide essential amenities like Annaprasadam, milk, and drinking water to waiting devotees.

On Saturday alone, 90,107 pilgrims had darshan, with the Srivari Hundi receiving offerings worth ₹4.23 crore during that day. These figures indicate an overwhelming demand for Lord Venkateswara's presence as summer holidays come to a close.

Impact of Continued Rush

The persistent pilgrimage rush is not without its challenges, particularly for older devotees and families with young children. Despite these difficulties, TTD attributes the successful management of large crowds to their integrated command-and-control center, utilizing AI-based systems for real-time monitoring and crowd regulation.

In May, Tirumala recorded its highest-ever monthly footfall, with 25,46,168 devotees visiting the shrine. The month saw a daily peak of 98,058 pilgrims on May 24, reflecting the scale of devotion during this period.

To meet escalating demands, TTD's laddu production department prepared an average of 4.08 lakh laddus each day, and used AI to ensure quality control. Temple collections reached ₹120 crore for hundi offerings, while laddu sales surged past ₹1.21 crore.

Despite these logistical hurdles, TTD remains committed to providing essential services, ensuring pilgrims have a safe and dignified experience during their pilgrimage.
