The Indian Railways has implemented a significant measure to manage the influx of travelers returning home for the Holi festival. Effective from February 26 to March 3, 2026, platform ticket sales will be suspended at five prominent railway stations in Delhi's area: New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal, and Delhi Sarai Rohilla.
Designated gates will be used for entry into station premises to minimize crowd and ensure a smooth travel experience, while senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, the ill, and women travelers will be exempted from the temporary ban, as will be those family members accompanying single female travelers.
Additional staff and security personnel will be deployed to handle the anticipated crowd as railway officials emphasize punctual arrivals and the avoidance of crowded areas during the festive season to manage chaos and push-and-shove situations.
The Railways have issued recommendations for safe travel, encouraging travelers to reach the stations in advance and keep luggage to avoid crowd congestion.
