A major focus of the discussion was the progress made in domestic aerospace capabilities. The Prime Minister highlighted the maiden successful flight of the first made-in-India C-295 military transport aircraft. This project, which involves the manufacturing of 40 such units within the country, is expected to provide a substantial boost to the MSME and aerospace sectors, ultimately fostering job creation and technological independence.
Advancements in Indigenous Defense Capabilities
In addition to aviation breakthroughs, the Prime Minister acknowledged significant defense achievements that mark India's journey toward self-reliance. He pointed to the successful testing of the indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). This strategic missile system, developed through the collaboration of various DRDO laboratories and domestic industry partners, underwent a successful flight trial on June 15 off the coast of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha.
The test, which was observed by senior officials from the DRDO, the Indian Navy, and the Indian Air Force, successfully met all mission objectives. Data recorded by the tracking systems at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur confirmed the efficacy of the development. The Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru functioned as the nodal laboratory for this complex engineering effort, showcasing the depth of indigenous technical expertise.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reflected on the expansion of the nation's naval fleet. He mentioned the induction of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray into the Indian Navy earlier this month.
