A Bengaluru city court has once again issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the multi-lingual film actor Prakash Raj. This latest legal development, which occurred on June 12, 2026, stems from long-standing allegations regarding the actor's voter registration details across multiple states.
Details of the Non-Bailable Warrant Against Prakash Raj
The legal proceedings against the actor were initiated following a formal petition filed by K Dilip Kumar, an advocate based in Bengaluru. The core of the complaint revolves around the actor's name allegedly appearing on electoral rolls in three separate states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, during his participation in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
According to official court records, this marks the third time a non-bailable warrant has been issued in this case. Initial efforts to summon Prakash Raj on February 17, 2026, proved unsuccessful after authorities were unable to locate him at the residence provided in the petition. Consequently, the court proceeded to issue the first non-bailable warrant on March 17, 2026, following the actor's failure to appear.
Following further absences, the NBW was re-issued on April 17 and again on June 12, 2026. The latest issuance was delayed slightly as the presiding judge was away for mandatory training. The court has scheduled the next hearing for this matter on July 25, 2026.
Background of the Election Representation Case
The history of this litigation dates back to 2023, when K Dilip Kumar approached the court. The complainant claimed that he had attempted to raise these concerns with the jurisdictional police in April 2019, shortly after the national elections, but no action was initiated at that time. The complainant alleged that besides being a registered voter in the Shantinagar assembly segment of Bengaluru, Prakash Raj’s name was simultaneously listed in the Velachary constituency in Chennai and the Serilingam Pally segment in Telangana.
On August 1, 2025, the court formally took cognizance of the matter, citing potential offences punishable under Sections 31 and 125(A) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. This act governs the integrity of the electoral process and regulates voter registration requirements. As the judicial process continues, the focus remains on ensuring the actor's presence for the upcoming proceedings scheduled for late July.
