The NEET-UG 2026 re-exam is officially underway today, with authorities nationwide enforcing stringent security and logistical protocols to facilitate a transparent testing environment. This critical re-examination follows earlier concerns regarding the integrity of the initial test, prompting the government to adopt rigorous oversight measures to regain public confidence.
More than 22.79 lakh students are scheduled to participate in the examination, which is being held across 5,440 designated centres spanning 551 cities in India and 14 locations abroad. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale emphasized that the government has implemented extreme caution to prevent any form of malpractice, noting that those responsible for previous irregularities will face severe consequences.
Extensive Security Protocols for NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam
In various states, law enforcement agencies have activated high-level security frameworks. In Lucknow, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Babloo Kumar, announced a three-tier deployment strategy. This includes secure handling of sensitive examination materials, persistent police presence at all 75 centres, and mandatory rigorous frisking for every candidate. Students are permitted to bring only their admit cards, ID proof, and photographs, as pens are provided directly inside the halls.
In Noida, the Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration has utilized surveillance technology, including CCTV cameras and signal jammers, at centres such as Bhawani Shankar Inter College to deter any cheating attempts. Joint Commissioner Rajiv Narayan Mishra confirmed that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is currently in effect to maintain order, supplemented by localized traffic management plans.
Similar comprehensive measures have been adopted in cities like Varanasi, where 47 centres are under watch, and monitoring of social media and cyber cafes is being prioritized. In the southern region, centres in Kalaburagi and Bagalkot, Karnataka, have confirmed the successful installation of jammers and advanced frisking systems. In Bagalkot specifically, Deputy Commissioner Sangappa confirmed that 3,967 candidates are registered across 11 centres.
The national effort to ensure the sanctity of the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam extends to Haryana, Gujarat, Tripura, and Himachal Pradesh. In Ambala, 270 police personnel are managing seven centres, while in Rajkot, the CISF is assisting local police in securing 12 designated locations. Meanwhile, in Agartala, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar reported full compliance with NTA directives, bolstered by the presence of CRPF and state police units. These synchronized efforts across the country demonstrate a unified commitment to conducting a fair and secure examination for all aspirants.
