In a deeply spiritual atmosphere resonating with traditional Vedic chants, the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri successfully launched its Samoohika Uchita Aksharabhyasam, a mass free initiation into learning program for children. This significant educational and religious ceremony was held this Wednesday to provide a formal beginning for young children embarking on their scholastic journey.

The event was meticulously organized under the direct supervision of the Temple Trust Board chairman, Borra Radhakrishna, and executive officer V.K. Seena Nayak. To ensure the proceedings were conducted with utmost devotion and order, temple authorities implemented elaborate arrangements, allowing families to participate in the ancient ritual without any logistical inconveniences.

Significance of the Aksharabhyasam Ceremony

Following calculations by Vedic scholars, the sacred Aksharabhyasam ritual commenced at the auspicious time of 8:06 am. Held on the sixth floor of the Maha Mandapam at Indrakeeladri, the ceremony followed traditional scripts. Under the expert guidance of temple Sthanacharya Shiv Prasad Sharma and deputy chief priest Kota Prasad, parents assisted their children in writing their very first letters, starting with the sacred syllable 'Om'. The environment was filled with the sounds of Vedic hymns and traditional musical instruments, marking the profound cultural importance of the Aksharabhyasam event.

A total of 250 children from across the region, having completed their online registrations, participated in the program. Strict discipline was maintained throughout the event; only the child and their parents were permitted into the designated hall to ensure the experience remained peaceful. The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam provided all necessary materials, including writing slates, chalk pieces, and other essential puja items, completely free of charge to all participants.

Following the completion of the Aksharabhyasam, the organizing team arranged an exclusive queue, allowing families to have a special darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga. This was followed by the distribution of sacred temple prasadam and blessings from Vedic scholars. Parents conveyed their profound happiness at initiating their children's education in the divine presence of the Goddess, who is widely revered as the manifestation of Maha Saraswati, the deity of knowledge. Executive officer V.K. Seena Nayak acknowledged the collective effort of the temple staff, priests, and devotees in making this initiative a resounding success.
