CM N Chandrababu Naidu Launches Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu officially launched the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in Amaravati today, personally administering polio drops to young children. This vital public health initiative underscores the government's ongoing commitment to safeguarding children against preventable diseases through timely and effective vaccination.

During the event held at his camp office, the Chief Minister took the time to interact with both the children and their parents. He emphasized the importance of following recommended immunization schedules, urging families to ensure their children receive all necessary government-provided vaccines on time to protect their long-term health and well-being.

Strengthening Family Support Systems

Beyond the immediate health campaign, N Chandrababu Naidu took the opportunity to advocate for the revitalization of traditional joint family systems. He noted that such structures provide essential emotional support and help shape children with core values through the involvement of grandparents and other relatives. The Chief Minister addressed the modern challenges faced by working parents, stressing that child-rearing should be a shared responsibility rather than solely falling on the mother.

The Chief Minister stated, "Fathers and other family members must share the responsibility of bringing up children. Parenting should never be left entirely to mothers." He further encouraged a shift in societal perspective, suggesting that children should be cherished as a source of joy and strength for the community.

Campaign Goals and State Initiatives

According to updates provided by officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department, the state is targeting an ambitious goal. They aim to administer polio drops to approximately 4.92 million children under the age of five during this intensive three-day Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.

The government is also actively working to create greater awareness regarding the significance of family planning and the benefits of larger families. By promoting a family-friendly social environment, the administration hopes to support parents in their child-rearing journey. Key officials who were present to support the campaign included the Director of Secondary Health, K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, alongside representatives from the National Health Mission (NHM).
