Axis Bank has recently underscored its intensified commitment to supporting MSME growth and commercial banking operations throughout Telangana. This strategic focus is driven by robust credit demand from key regional industries, including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, logistics, engineering services, electronics manufacturing, and technology-oriented businesses.

During a recent engagement in Hyderabad, senior bank representatives highlighted that Telangana remains a pivotal market for their diverse banking segments, spanning corporate, MSME, affluent, and retail banking. As of March 2026, the combined portfolio for the bank's Mid-Corporate, Small Business Banking (SBB), and SME segments reached an impressive ₹2.93 lakh crore. This figure represents 23.8 percent of the lender's total loan book, with year-on-year growth rates of 33 percent for Mid-Corporate, 24 percent for SME, and 17 percent for SBB respectively.

Expanding Financial Reach and Digital Integration

The bank is currently providing financial services to more than 24,000 MSME accounts within the state. Prominent districts such as Hyderabad, Medchal, Sangareddy, Warangal, and Khammam have been identified as central hubs for its commercial banking activities and ecosystem-led financing programs. Currently, the institution maintains a physical footprint of 199 branches across 30 districts in Telangana, supported by a local workforce exceeding 2,800 employees. The bank serves a substantial customer base comprising over 1.48 lakh current account holders, 3.29 lakh term deposit customers, and 17 lakh active savings account users.

While the digital landscape continues to evolve, officials observed that physical branches remain essential for commercial banking. Approximately 79 percent of small business banking operations are initiated through branches, whereas digital platforms process roughly 75 percent of unsecured business loan disbursements. Furthermore, the bank is leveraging platforms like Invoicemart—its TReDS initiative—to streamline working capital access for smaller enterprises, having already facilitated over ₹2.78 lakh crore in MSME invoice financing.

The strategic shift toward specialized financial support is designed to meet the evolving needs of businesses as they pursue national and global expansion. By integrating artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, the bank aims to refine its lending processes and enhance relationship management. Beyond traditional financial operations, the organization is also actively engaged in corporate social responsibility, focusing on livelihood and skill-building programs across districts like Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, and Vikarabad, in collaboration with partners such as the Youth4Jobs Foundation.
