According to data from the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the seismic event originated in Afghanistan at a depth of 215 km. Technical readings placed the epicenter at latitude 36.442°N and longitude 70.672°E. Furthermore, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) identified the location of the quake as being roughly 43 km south of Jurm, situated in the north-eastern region of Afghanistan.
Seismic Vulnerability in the Region
While the 6.2-magnitude earthquake caused widespread concern among citizens in North India, authorities reported no immediate casualties or structural damage within Afghanistan. The Red Cross highlighted that the nation remains highly susceptible to such disasters.
