Pamplona officially launched the 2026 San Fermín festival with the traditional chupinazo rocket launch.
Healthcare professionals from the Navarra Emergency Sub-directorate were honored with the task of starting the festivities.
The city is hosting 516 events over nine days, managed by a security force of over 2,700 personnel.
Record-breaking heat reaching 40 degrees Celsius is currently impacting the historic city during the celebration.
