NASA officially announced the CAPSTONE 02 mission on July 24, 2026, to test advanced lunar orbital operations.
The mission uses two identical 400kg spacecraft to demonstrate active rendezvous, proximity, and docking maneuvers.
CAPSTONE 02 aims to mature operational infrastructure for the Artemis program and future permanent Moon Base goals.
The spacecraft are developed by Terran Orbital Systems, Inc. through an SBIR Phase III contract.
