The Calcutta High Court rejected a plea for an interim stay on the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal.
The dispute involves the appointment of Ritabrata Banerjee, supported by a dissident faction claiming 58 out of 80 seats.
The legal challenge was filed by TMC MLA Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, contesting the Speaker's decision to bypass his nomination.
Justice Krishna Rao ordered respondents to file affidavits within three weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for July 28.
