Amberavati, India — YSRCM supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has lashed out at the Andhra Pradesh government for what he perceives as a lack of action and justice in the ongoing Sugali Preeti murder case.

According to Mr. Jagan, who accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's administration of negligence, no significant steps have been taken despite scientific evidence pointing towards sexual assault and murder. He cited his party's move to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) as part of its efforts to deliver justice.

Background of the Case

The tragic death of Sugali Preeti, a minor girl, under the previous TDP regime has left her parents in constant suspense. School authorities blamed Sunita's death on suicide, but her family and supporters hold a different narrative, alleging sexual assault and murder due to visible injuries on her body.

Under the direction of Jagan's YSRCP government, the CBI investigation was brought into play, though its impact has been contentious. After Naidu returned to power, the case appears to have faltered again, causing frustration among Preeti's parents and their supporters.

Sugali's parents provided evidence of scientific reports during talks with Jagan, including laboratory results from the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD).

Mr. Jagan highlighted that despite the availability of crucial data, authorities failed to take action leading to a halt in the case's progress.

"The negligence of Naidu's government over this critical issue is deeply disturbing," Mr. Jagan stated during his Tuesday evening X post, addressing the families' ongoing anguish with empathy and renewed assurances.

The opposition leader further highlighted how his party supported Preeti's family by providing a house site and other forms of assistance.

Impact and Controversy

Jagan stressed that the YSRCP would continue to offer full legal support in ensuring proper justice is delivered, regardless of political affiliations. He also brought attention to allegations of government retaliation against the family for speaking out, claiming a halt in their pension.

While the ruling TDP has not yet responded publicly, the case continues to polarize opinions and rekindle public interest on the matter.
