The YSRC party has formally raised serious concerns regarding alleged bias during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Nellore. On Saturday, a delegation of party leaders submitted a detailed memorandum to the District Revenue Officer (DRO), N. Vijayakumar, requesting immediate administrative action against the Nellore Municipal Commissioner, Y.O. Nandan.

Allegations of Partisan Conduct in Nellore

The delegation, headed by YSRC district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy and Nellore city in-charge Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, contended that the Municipal Commissioner has compromised his constitutional obligations. According to the party leadership, the official participated in a meeting organized for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), which was also attended by the minister Ponguru Narayana. They further alleged that Y.O. Nandan subsequently held a private teleconference exclusively with Telugu Desam (TD) Booth Level Agents (BLAs), a move they argue demonstrates a clear lack of impartiality.

The YSRC representatives accused the Municipal Commissioner of providing tactical guidance to TD agents, specifically alleging that he instructed them on how to utilize the ITDP mobile application to accelerate the SIR process. Party leaders expressed deep concern that such actions transform the role of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) into that of a partisan political operative rather than an unbiased government official.

Demand for Administrative Accountability

Expressing profound skepticism regarding the integrity of the current voter revision process, Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the SIR exercise is being manipulated for political gain. He claimed that the initiative is being misused to secure votes favorable to the Telugu Desam party while simultaneously deleting entries that might support the opposition. The YSRC leadership has maintained that issuing a standard show-cause notice to the officer would be insufficient to address the gravity of these concerns.

Consequently, Kakani Govardhan Reddy has formally demanded that the district authorities take strict legal action against the Municipal Commissioner. The party has urged that Y.O. Nandan be immediately relieved of all responsibilities related to the electoral process to ensure fairness. In addition to the local representation made to the DRO, the YSRC confirmed that a comprehensive complaint has also been submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer. The party is seeking high-level intervention to investigate the alleged misconduct and uphold the sanctity of the electoral registration exercise in the region.
