The weather bureau has outlined a detailed forecast indicating that rain is expected to persist across Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Goa, Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Telangana beginning June 23. Furthermore, persistent heavy precipitation is likely to continue throughout the northeastern states well into next week. Specifically, Himachal Pradesh is under an alert for rain between June 22 and 25, while Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are seeing isolated light rain as of June 20.
In Uttarakhand, an official alert warns of thunderstorms, lightning, and wind gusts reaching speeds of 60 km per hour through June 21. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Vidarbha region are preparing for potential thunderstorms and lightning strikes between June 20 and 25. Western Madhya Pradesh specifically faces an alert for strong winds from June 21 to 23.
The situation in Bihar remains dynamic, with a yellow alert for heatwaves persisting in locations like Gaya, Jamui, Bhagalpur, Gopalganj, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, and Patna until June 22. The Southwest Monsoon is projected to take full effect in the state around June 23, with subsequent alerts for thunderstorms and high-velocity winds between 50 to 70 km/h expected through June 25. Similar monsoon advancement is anticipated in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh around June 23.
Additional alerts have been disseminated for Western Uttar Pradesh regarding immediate rain, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh expects rainfall by June 24. Heavy rain warnings have also been issued for Kolkata and Howrah in West Bengal.
