Volkswagen is set to bring its most popular hatchback back into the world of electric vehicles with the ID Polo EV, launching in 2026. With a production-ready design based on the 2023 ID.2all concept, this new contender promises a range of 451 kilometers and a powerful GTI variant that churns out 226 horsepower.

The exterior design is sleek and robust, featuring LED headlights and a glowing VW logo. The rear door handles have been cleverly mounted on the C-pillar to enhance aerodynamics. With an overall length of 4,053 mm and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, the Polo EV boasts impressive dimensions that offer a spacious cabin.

Interior Features and Retro Mode

Volkswagen has managed to bring its "Pure Positive" philosophy into the Polo EV's cabin. The driver is greeted by a 13-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital display that can be activated to simulate Retro Mode. When Retro Mode activates, it transforms the display into an analog look reminiscent of the old MK1 Golf, complete with vintage animations.

The cabin is adorned with soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and robust physical controls. These elements contribute to a highly immersive and engaging driving experience. Despite its sleek design, the Polo EV offers 435 liters of boot space, ensuring there's plenty of storage for everyday needs.

Performance and Battery

The ID Polo EV is equipped with a powerful electric motor paired with two battery options: a 38 kWh pack, offering an estimated range of 451 kilometers, and a larger 56 kWh pack. Both variants support fast charging at up to 125 kW, ensuring that the batteries charge quickly.

The GTI variant is a standout performance model with its high output power. With 226 horsepower, it offers impressive acceleration and maneuverability on the roads. Combined with the robust handling characteristics of an EV platform, this makes the ID Polo EV stand out as a formidable player in India's electric vehicle market.
