In a significant push for public service improvements, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials have turned their attention to the operational standards of local facilities. The VMC commissioner, H.M. Dhyanachandra, recently issued firm directives aimed at enhancing the quality of services provided at Anna Canteens. Emphasizing the need for consistent improvements, he called for uninterrupted supplies of clean drinking water and the maintenance of essential amenities to better serve the community.
Ensuring Quality and Safety at Anna Canteens
During a focused site visit to the Anna Canteen located near the Gandhiji Mahila Kalasala in One Town, the commissioner conducted a comprehensive review. His inspection covered critical aspects such as food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness, and the availability of safe drinking water. By closely monitoring these operations, the administration intends to ensure that public feedback is addressed efficiently, thereby maintaining high standards of service at every Anna Canteen across the municipal jurisdiction.
Strengthening Fire Safety and Urban Maintenance
Beyond the oversight of public eateries, the municipal administration has intensified its scrutiny of commercial properties regarding fire safety protocols. After reviewing reports from surprise inspections conducted by the Fire Department at prominent locations such as Swarna Heights, Khazana Jewellers, Hotel Haiyan, and Swarna Palace, significant lapses were identified. Deficiencies included non-functional safety equipment and the complete absence of necessary fire prevention systems. Consequently, the municipal body has issued formal advisory notices to the respective management teams.
H.M. Dhyanachandra issued a stern warning, clarifying that the municipal authorities are prepared to take strict legal actions, including the potential revocation of trade licenses, for any establishment found violating safety regulations. Furthermore, in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season, the commissioner has ordered an acceleration of pre-monsoon sanitation projects. These initiatives include intensive drain-cleaning efforts and city-wide cleanliness drives designed to prevent waterlogging and ensure public health remains a priority during the monsoon period.
