TTD Plans Central Administrative Building to Streamline Operations in Tirumala

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has officially announced an ambitious plan to construct a new central administrative building in Tirumala. This major infrastructure development is designed to consolidate various administrative departments under one roof, thereby streamlining operations for the temple management body.
The project, which is estimated to cost approximately Rs 85 crore, aims to centralize the functioning of key departments. Currently, as the hill town has seen significant expansion, various offices have been dispersed across different locations. This fragmentation has previously created challenges in maintaining efficient inter-departmental communication and coordinated planning.
Improving Operational Efficiency with a Central Administrative Building
The proposed central administrative building will serve as the primary hub for the temple body's operations. The facility is set to house the office of the additional executive officer along with 23 distinct departments. These include essential functions such as engineering, revenue, estate, vigilance and security, healthcare, transport, temple administration, information technology, accounts, audit, and public relations. By bringing these services into a single, integrated space, the TTD expects to see marked improvements in decision-making speed and operational clarity, particularly during festivals and high-traffic periods.
The temple organization currently manages a complex range of services for an average daily footfall of 60,000 to 80,000 pilgrims. These responsibilities include managing darshan queues, providing accommodation, distributing Annaprasadam, and overseeing sanitation, water supply, security, and transportation. The new administrative facility is intended to facilitate better management of these massive pilgrim volumes.
Site Selection and Structural Specifications
To accommodate this expansive facility, a site spanning 5,495 square meters has been selected on the northern side of the B-type quarters in Tirumala. While the TTD Board had previously approved a site at the old Annapurna Canteen in July 2025, that 1,412-square-meter plot was ultimately determined to be insufficient for long-term operational needs. The new location near the B-type quarters was chosen for its strategic connectivity to the main temple, the Vaikuntam queue complexes, and the outer ring roads.
The architectural design for the central administrative building is substantial, featuring a total built-up area of nearly 1.91 lakh square feet. The structure is planned to include a cellar floor, a stilt floor specifically designated for vehicle parking, and four additional upper floors dedicated to office space. This project represents a significant investment in the long-term infrastructure required to support the growing administrative demands of the world-renowned temple town.
