Kothaguda, Komaram Bheem Asifabad: A festive atmosphere prevailed in the small Kolam community village of Kothaguda as 25 new homes under the Indiramma housing scheme were inaugurated on Monday. This event marked the initial phase of a vital project aimed at providing permanent dwellings to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) beneficiaries within the Kerameri Mandal area.
Chief Minister's Attendance and Celebration
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who inaugurated the homes. Beneficiaries, including Atram Bheem Bhai and Atram Raju, a couple belonging to the Kolam community, said that owning their first pucca (permanent) houses had greatly boosted their confidence and hope for improved futures.
Discussing their journey towards home ownership, Bheem Bhai and Raju expressed gratitude for the ₹5 lakh assistance from the scheme. They mentioned that living without a permanent roof over their heads had been extremely challenging. Now, they live their lives with dignity after years of struggle. The couple has two children and works as daily wage agricultural labourers.
Another satisfied resident, Madavi Paggu, who was not included in this phase but remains hopeful for the next, thanked the Chief Minister for considering her family's future and expanding the scheme to their village. Her optimism underscores the positive impact of these initiatives on local communities.
'Befikar Ayindi,' a phrase meaning a 'confident life' in Telugu, has become more attainable for Kolam families due to the Indiramma housing project. The mass housewarming ceremony not only provided new homes but also instilled hope and resilience among those who have worked hard for years to secure basic living conditions.
