Nellore: The Tirupati parliamentary representative, Maddila Gurumoorthy, has taken up the issue of a persistent traffic jam caused by frequent closures at level-crossing gate No. 49 near Tada South Cabin in Sullurpet constituency. Concerned about students missing classes and patients facing emergency delays, Gurumoorthy wrote to Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

On Tuesday, local leaders met with Gurumoorthy to discuss the difficulties posed by the rail gate's closures due to continuous train operations. This interaction prompted Gurumoorthy to advocate for a road under bridge (RuB) solution, aiming not only to alleviate traffic congestion but also to improve public safety and transportation.

Road Under Bridge: Necessary for Student Timeliness and Public Safety

According to Gurumoorthy, the existing level-crossing gate's frequent closures significantly affect students' punctuality and disrupt their commute. Notably, students miss out on classes, and emergency vehicles struggle with long delays during these brief windows. Furthermore, daily commuters traveling to Sri City also face significant delays, resulting in substantial traffic congestion.

Gurumoorthy emphasized that swift approval and construction of the RuB are essential for public safety and the smooth flow of transportation. He believes this initiative could serve as a model solution for similar problems across other constituencies facing similar challenges due to railway gate closures.
